Ford Foundation to host US-Brazil Connect strategy session focused on expansion

On November 7th, US-Brazil Connect is holding a strategy session to examine the expansion of the US-Brazil Connect consortium.  The meeting will include leaders from US-Brazil Connect, Houston, Red Rocks and Jackson Community Colleges, and a select group of community colleges with interests in creating strategic connections with Brazil.

Our partners at the Brazilian Confederation of Industry, the National Industrial Apprenticeship Service of Brazil (SENAI), and the Social Service for Industry of Brazil (SESI), have requested that we expand the US-Brazil Partnership for Skills to engage up to 80 community college participants in 2013.  The Partnership creates opportunities for U.S. community college students  to participate in leadership development in Brazil while developing the foundation for mutually-beneficial cooperation between community colleges in the U.S. and SENAI/SESI schools in Brazil.

The Partnership can be considered two-way cultural immersion: US students experience Brazil first-hand while Brazilian high schoolers are “immersed” in English six hours a day by a group of native speakers.
