What benefits do I receive if I am selected for the Fellowship?
All Fellows….
- earn a stipend of approximately $550-$650 (depending on exchange rates)
- receive room and board during your time in Brazil
- receive training and preparation for your experience
- are supported with local transportation in Brazil
How much will this cost?
Our program is highly subsidized. At the most, Fellows are responsible for their international airfare, health insurance, and visa costs ($2000-$2500).
You may be eligible for scholarship support to help cover all or part of travel costs.

I do not speak Portuguese, can I still attend?
Absolutely! You will placed with students who have a basic understanding of English. There will also be on-ground staff members to help you, should you have any translation problems.
When does the program start?
Online tutoring will begin from March-May, 2013 and July-August, 2013. Travel to Brazil is for 4 weeks in June/July 2013.
What exactly is my commitment to the program?
- Participate in a course which prepares you to travel to Brazil and gain the skills needed to serve as an English-for-Technology tutor to Brazilian high school students in Brazil.
- Serve as an online tutor, working four hours per week with 12-15 selected Brazilian technology students from March-May, 2013 and July-August, 2013. Fellows will receive guidance for their work as tutors and earn a stipend of approximately $550 (paid in local currency in Brazil).
- Travel to Brazil for a four-week fellowship in June/July of 2013. In Brazil, fellows will facilitate English activities four hours per day, participate in an in-depth learning experience focused on Brazil’s rise and the role of sustainability, science and technology, and explore Brazil’s amazing music, beaches, dance, and food.
