Brazilian Student Visit & Hosting Communities

US-Brazil Connect seeks organizational partners to host our Brazilian students during their trip to the US.

January 30 - February 13, 2016, US-Brazil Connect and several of our community college partners will host the top 5% of Brazilian students from the Conexão Mundo Program. Families, organizations and schools help make the Brazilian student visit a remarkable cross-cultural education experience for some of Brazil's best students.

Each year, our Brazilian partners astound and amaze the US fellows with their hospitality during visits to Brazil. We seek passionate, energetic hosts capable of hospitality at or beyond the Brazilian standard.

Get Schools Involved to become a Community Educational Partner

US-Brazil Connect is actively seeking local Colorado schools to partner with in hosting a group of 10-12 Brazilian delegates by:

  • Recruiting families within their school community to host student delegates for 2 weeks
  • Participating in a 2-day educational exchange at the school that meets the needs of the school curriculum and engages Brazilian delegates.

Benefits for Participating Communities

The US-Brazil Connect exchange brings cultural diversity to high school campuses by the following means:

  • Creating a cross cultural experience
  • Provides the opportunity for students, educators and families to learn about Brazilian culture from Brazilians
  • Builds relationships and creates memories that last a lifetime
  • Boosts cultural diversity within the school in today's globalizing world
  • Develops more open-minded and well-rounded students

US-Brazil Connect provides training and support to all hosting communities and the home stay families recruited through these communities.

“My students and their families loved making new friends and getting to share their favorite parts of Colorado with our Brazilian students.  The world became a little smaller and more wonderful, and everyone left with new dance moves and new friends.  Parents and students are already asking about hosting next year!” –Samantha Johnson, Educator at Boulder High School

Be a Host Family

Host families may choose to host one or two students. The most important responsibility is to create a warm, welcoming home for students. In addition, US-Brazil Connect expects that home stay families will:

  • Provide a bed for hosted student(s)
  • Provide breakfast daily and dinner on nights when program events are not scheduled
  • Provide daily transportation to and from the central meeting location (hosting school, neighborhood association, etc. This location is selected by the host organization for the convenience of families.)
  • Engage student(s) in English
  • Include student(s) in daily life
  • Help with airport pick-up and drop-off
Please email Student Visit Coordinator Tracy Simpson if interested in becoming a host family!
